| Morelia viridis / chondro Green Tree Python There's something about arboreal snakes that makes them really cool that is hard to define. Maybe it's the slender extra strong body, or the big thick triangular extra mean looking head. And then there's something about chondros that just seems to seperate them from all the rest. A chondro is one of the most exotic looking neon colored snakes you will ever see. Some are obviously much nicer than others and there are even blue ones for slightly less than a kidney goes for nowadays. My chondro is a Jayapura locality male and is an excellent looking specimen. I tried the cheapo internet baby chondros first and can understand now why the people who knew were telling me that there was no such thing as a cheap chondro. Your Green Tree is not the place to bargain shop as I promise you in the chondro world you typicaly get what you pay for. My male is 3 years old and in perfect condition. He eats every week without any problems, sheds clean and has never regurged or had any health problems at all. The blue diamonds on the back are well pronounced and bright and the green is a nice light lime color. Best of all is his awesome temperment. This snake never bites at all and the worst he will do is hiss when first touched. That is it. Period. No biting and no aggression not to mention he is handled frequently and it has not affected eating or health in any way. I've got my eyes on a female for him and am really hoping toget a breeding project going with these. An interesting note is that my chondro spends more time on the ground than I ever would have thought. At night he will prowl the ground searching for food unless the mouse is put in before dark. If the mouse goes in and the lights go out he drops about a foot of body down into an "S" shape and comes to life preparing for his ambush. |

Elaphe g guttata Corn Snake I first started keeping snakes at about 10 years old. These were mostly wild caught rat snakes, corns, kings, greensnakes, racers etc. Since then I have kept a large variety going through most of the more common colubrids and several boa and python species. I have heard a lot of my snake friends rip on "those cheap little corns", but I keep coming back to them. I love them. You absolutely cannot beat or really even match their qualities that make them great captive snakes. Not too big, there's nothing easier to keep, and it's hard to find one that will bite or refuse food. Then there's the color and pattern variety. Forget me listing all they types available, it's pretty much any way you want them they can be found. Corns absolutely rule and there is good reason that there are more corns kept in captivity than any other snake. Also they have a lot of personality, they are very alert and usually active. The corns that I chose to work with are in my opinion one of , if not the best looking morph out there. My albino Okeetee Corns are the best I have ever seen color and pattern wise. I do not say this to brag on myself only as a statement of opinion. I only bought them, I didn't raise my adults. They were however very popular at the show I purchased them at. I have one male albino Okeetee, three female albino Okeetees, and one regular Okeetee female. This group is not het for anything else at all, just totally clean albino Okeetee genes. Eggs are being laid now and I'm incubating the first batch of five. When they hatch a I will have a few I will be interested in selling. Contact me via email on the home page for availabity. . |
